                                                                                                              Hiromi Nomura AIFD, EMC

 

Hiromi was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She studied European Floral Design in 1990 and received her teaching certification from the NFD (Nippon Flowe Designers) Association in 1994. Soon after,  she started teaching at the Chie Flower Design school and the Japan Flower Design College in Tokyo. To broaden her experiences she worked at various floral design shops in Tokyo as well as in Germany.

After moving to San Francisco in 1997, she studied Floristry at City College of San Francisco. While there, she participated in the SAIFD design competitions in 1999 and 2000.  She was awarded First Overall in 2000, along with five other individual First Awards. Upon completion of her floristry studies, she worked as a freelance designer for weddings and parties. She also studied Ikebana, and in 2001, received her teaching certification from the Sogetsu Ikebana Foundation. In 2002, she was inducted into the AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers), and in the following year was selected to participate in the AIFD Symposium as a Designer. She established her business, “Belle Flora” in 2002, and at present she is teaching classes in both floral design and ikebana while still creating designs for restaurants and special occasions/events.

She has been an exhibitor at San Francisco’s “Bouquets to Arts” since 2003, and has been an active floral committee member for the Asian Art Museum since 2003.  
She has successfully completed EMC (European Master Certification) in October 2016. 

As an instructor in Ikebana she has attained Sogetsu "Komon" rank. (2022)
